Niche Journalism and the Beauty of it

The Democratizing Media blog has a post on how blogging can help niche journalism such as people writing about science issues and topics. Blogging, as a tool, can be used by scientists to share their knowledge to their peers or enquiring minds from outside of the science circles.
This also could be said for a number of topics. PR, for instance is a niche. There are limited publications and periodicals on PR and there certainly aren’t any radio or TV programmes that focus on the profession. This is where blogging and podcasting come in. Every PR blogger I’m subscribed to are my publication and every communication podcast I listen to are my radio programme. When vlogging enters the bigger stage, I’m hoping I may get my PR TV show. Imagine that?
That’s the beauty of all this. Blogging, podcasting and vlogging bring similar minds together. I still find it amazing and bizarre that I participate in conversations with PR practitioners from all around the world! Sharing, listening to, and discussing ideas. How cool is that?
