It is quite extraordinary that now we have some interesting revenues being generated by on-line newspapers, the UK media is hiding more of its content in the ‘paid for’ sections. Foot shooting by the publishers is not unusual. Their clumsy use of charging for press clips through the NLA is another example. With big on-line circulation all the proprietors have a huge opportunity to create value added revenues but none will accrue if their sites do not have news and while they still see copyright as a long term asset rather than a first to market opportunity.
