If you’re wondering which blog platform to use…

Josh Hallet points to an excellent blog comparison chart with a list of the most popular platforms. Including Blogger, TypePad (all levels), Blogware, WordPress, Movable Type and Expression Engine.
It includes all functionality elements of a blog including comments, trackbacks, categories, pings, rss, etc. then goes on to show extras, such as, moblogging, photo galleries and none blog pages.
I use WordPress for this blog and I’m currently building a new blog with TypePad. At the moment I’m favouring WordPress. I’m not the most technical person in the world (or in my home town for that matter!) but it seems there are a lot more extras you can do with a WordPress blog…but we shall see.
Josh rightly points out that this chart has been compiled by looking at the standard features only, and doesn’t include plug-ins, extensions or hacks.
Technorati tags:
wordpress, typepad, blogger, expressionengine, blogware, movabletype, platform,

WordPress have just announced that they will soon be offering a completely hosted service similar to TypePad via WordPress.com. Not many details up but it looks like it’ll offer as much of the functionality of WordPress as a custom install does.

Neville Hobson posted about it today. It’s by invite only at the moment, but if you leave your email address here:
http://wordpress.com/
They will notify you when you can take up a blog.
