London bombings and the new media

The Media Guardian reports on how ordinary members of the public became cameramen and reporters in the terrible London bombings.
From claustrophobic mobile phone videos shot in smoke-filled, bombed out London underground carriages to bloggers posting personal experiences of the blasts directly onto the internet, the public’s contribution to mainstream media coverage produced some of the day’s most impactful material.

Box.net RSS File sharing

Box.net is an online file-storage service that is now distinguishing itself by adding RSS distribution of links to uploaded files. When a user uploads a new file, every subscriber to that user’s feed receives a notice and a link. Pretty clever!
Reuters taps into RSS

August’s Live 8 concert, G8 Summit, and Make Poverty History march are being covered in a dedicated new section of the Reuters website.
The news company has introduced a text and video RSS feed for the coverage, designed to encourage bloggers to incorporate Reuters’ material into their own sites.
