Why does everyone hate the media?

Jon Snow chairs with Guardian editor Alan Rusbridger, ex-Sun ed David Yelland, ex-Express and Independent editor Rosie Boycott, and the FT’s John Lloyd, on why does everyone hate the media?
7.07 John Lloyd wastes no time in identifying some culprits: Bloggers think that the mainstream news media are now past their sell-by date and that blogging, people going online and putting their own opinions on the web, is better than top-down journalism? It’s me journalism of the most basic kind.?

Another story I got via PR Week, is the introduction of a new website–Punditpal. Specifically designed for PRs and journalists, Punditpal is a database of contacts in expert areas. Here you can find contact details of experts in politics, media, defence, health etc. These categories are then divided into more sub-catergories.
The site is free to register, although the creator is considering using advertising for funding.
I think it’s a pretty good idea and hope it works as an excellent resource for PR businesses/practitioners.
PR Week’s top 50 tech PR consultancies

The PR week magazine has printed the top 50 tech PR conultancies. Here I’ll list the top 10:
2. Write Image
3. Citigate
5. Nelson Bostock Communications
6. Brands2life
7. Hotwire
8. Axicom
Lewis leads the way with their technology PR fee income of £5,534,339 which is £2million clear of Write Image
Also, has PR Week finally ended their subscription service? I am not a paying subscriber but received the magazine today. Perhaps they’re trying to tease me to join?

Read Andrew Smith’s ridicule of the list. Via Drew B, who also disagrees.
MediaAtlas or Romeike?
Posted Thursday, May 26, 2005 at 9:10pm in Blogging | Leave a Comment
I’ve been using Romeike and MediaAtlas at both uni and work and although I’m no expert I have to say I think MediaAtlas is the more superior. It took a while to get used to, and in the beginning I thought Romeike was the better product. After a little play around with MediaAtlas, I found it was much easier and quicker to use.
To ensure that they both returned relevant media contacts, I conducted my own little test using the media search facility and MediaAtlas produced more results also.
Am I just using Romeike wrong? Or is MediaAtlas the preferred PRO’s choice?
It would be good to hear other people’s choice of media search software. Are there any other products on the market worth trying?
